GreenTraks Customer Honored by the League of California Cities for its Innovative Economic Development and Energy Efficiency Program

The City of Benicia's Business Resource Incentive Program Enables Local Businesses to Significantly Reduce Costs and Greenhouse Gases While Using GreenTraks Energy Management and Verification Services

GreenTraks is pleased to announce that the City of Benicia has received the prestigious League of California Cities - Helen Putnam Award for its Business Resource Incentive Program (BRIP), supported by GreenTraks energy-efficiency and sustainability services.

In 2013, GreenTraks was selected by the City of Benicia as the exclusive provider of energy tracking and resource monitoring services to Benicia’s industrial park of 450 businesses. According to Kevin Cochran, GreenTraks COO, “The City of Benicia program is an excellent example of how GreenTraks partners with cities to achieve their economic development and sustainability goals. The GreenTraks Energy Manager™ allows public and private organizations to track comprehensive energy and sustainability metrics and simplifies analysis and decision making.” Kevin continued, “Since implementation of its program, the City of Benicia has funded 19 energy reduction projects, saving Benicia businesses an estimated $170,000 annually and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by over 188 metric tons annually. We are proud to say that GreenTraks solutions are helping contribute to their success.”

State greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction laws and regulations such as California AB 32 and AB 1103 are creating both challenges and opportunities for local governments. GreenTraks partners with cities and their local businesses, as well as city-owned and non-city-owned utilities and their commercial customers, to evaluate and design solutions that support citywide sustainability and business development objectives. GreenTraks services and network of experts in energy-management and sustainability provide flexible models that have proven to achieve results while increasing community participation.

GreenTraks has invested in and is dedicated to supporting cities and local businesses with innovative programs that support city economic development, sustainability, and energy-reduction action-plan initiatives. Earlier this year, GreenTraks introduced the Climate Action Partners Program (CAPP) designed to initiate collaboration among public and private organizations. As a value-added partner, GreenTraks is becoming a leader in providing energy-management and sustainability solutions and programs to large and small cities such as the City of Sacramento, City of Palo Alto, City of Yuba City, and the City of Pittsburg.
