The Royal Mile Pub has been nestled in downtown Wheaton for more than 20 years. In the tradition of Scottish pubs before them, the Royal Mile Pub has a strong focus on their surrounding community. The Pub offers a familiar, enjoyable and fun atmosphere for all - customers and staff. For more information on the Royal Mile Pub, check out http://www.royalmilepub.com/

On your way to the Royal Mile Pub, please be sure to visit the new Conservation Rainscape Garden planted by local residents in the Wheaton Triangle (opposite 2424 Reedie Drive). Also, thank the local chess players nearby who watch over the garden and make sure it continues to thrive. The garden is in full bloom with Maryland Native Plants that you, too, can plant in your own backyard or window planter box. The Rainscape Garden captures some of the rainfall that the native plants help absorb instead of diverting the storm water runoff into the nearest storm drain where it would mix with litter, oil residue and other pollutants and contribute to the ongoing destruction of Sligo Creek and other local streams that are part of the larger Chesapeake Bay watershed. To learn more about the long-term environmental benefits of Native Plants, rain barrels, composting and more, please visit Montgomery County's RainScapes Program on-line at: http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/dectmpl.asp?url=/content/dep/water/rainscapes.asp

Upcoming Wheaton Events that will provide the public an opportunity to view the installed conservation landscape include:

➢ Wheaton Flea Market every Saturday and Sunday from 9am-3pm all year
➢ Wheaton Farmer's Market every Sunday from 8am-1pm June through October

Sponsors of the conservation rainscape installation include Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Friends of Sligo Creek, Neighbors of Northwest Branch, Anacostia Watershed Citizens Advisory Committee, and Speedy Signs.
