"After completing my Master’s, I ended up falling into a line of research that wasn’t aligned with my passion, which was mesoscale meteorology, also known as severe weather. One day while on a study break at the mall, I saw an advertisement to get a California real estate license for ninety-nine dollars. I am a student of life and I like to learn about new things, so I decided to take the course even though I initially had no intention of becoming a Realtor. I found the industry to be very interesting, so I began working as a Realtor on the side, and before I knew it, it was taking on a life of its own. I was enjoying it so much more than what I was actually researching, so I took a huge risk: I left the Ph.D. program and went into real estate full time."

As a thought-leader in his field, Masi noted the love of a challenge as the driving force behind his motivation:
