Grindr For Gay Travel: IPhone App Focuses On Gay Nightlife

Wsupnow.com, the popular gay event website is now available as an iPhone app. The app is free to download for a limited time.

The official launch of the Wsup Now app last week yielded such a positive response that Wsup Co., the parent company behind the app and website, is extending their promotion so users can download the gay app free for a limited time.

"We were ecstatic to see strong download numbers for the app last week," said Stuart Leung, founder of Wsup Now. "It shows there is a demand for a simple app that focuses on gay and lesbian nightlife."

Like the website, the Wsup Now app provides a visual listing of gay and lesbian events based on the user's location. The app provides locals and visitors access to hundreds of gay-related events nearby.

The app has quickly become a requirement for gay and lesbian travelers who want gay and lesbian nightlife at their fingertips.

Core features in Wsup Now:

• Simple Event Discovery: Grindr utilizes geo-location to show you who are nearby, Wsup Now display gay events that are closest to you.
• No Networks Needed: You see every event. You don't have to be connected to Facebook.
• Social Event Photos: As with Instagram, users can share event photos with Wsup Now.

The key to the app is thousands of events that are available. The events are curated to ensure the most comprehensive view of gay nightlife.

Wsup Now covers everything from drag shows to karaoke nights, club parties to happy hours, runway shows to gay pride events, in six major gay destinations -- New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Las Vegas.

The app also highlights national events in other cities, like the upcoming pride festivals - the 2012 Phoenix Gay Pride and 2012 Gay Pride in Long Beach, as well as the famous Dinah Shore Weekend being held in Las Vegas at the end of the month.

Although the app covers thousands of events each month, Leung understands that his job isn't close to being finished. "It's difficult to capture all the gay and lesbian events in one city, much less 50, and we haven't even touched international."

"With that said, we have a long view. We're doing our best to grow to service other cities," continued Leung."We're responding to the demand so if you don't see the app in your city yet, we've likely go it on our radar."

With more cities coming soon, the Wsup Now app is positioned to reshape how gays and lesbians, whether they're a local or just visiting, find events and parties nearby.
Because the app provides a simple method to discover events and promote them, the app has the potential to disrupt the LGBT nightlife, for the better.

"Being the first comprehensive events listing app for the gay community," said Leung. "We believe the app is a game-changer for our community."

Regularly priced at $1.99, the app is available to download for free for a limited time (promotion expires Monday, April 23_. Download it here. To see gay events near you, point your browser to http://www.wsupnow.com or "like" us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/wsupnow
