Mike Hewitt, chief executive of gtnews.com for the past five years, has left to launch Adaugeo Media, a specialist sales and marketing consultancy which specialises in developing and implementing Thought Leadership programmes for business-to-business clients.

Adaugeo (Latin for 'to increase') creates and manages programmes which give business leaders the chance to engage with and influence prospective clients through online and live events, digital media and other channels.

The new company started trading on 1st March 2012 from offices in London's City Road and is already producing marketing collateral ranging from newsletters to live events for clients in the UK, Germany and the US.

"Adaugeo grew out of my belief that in an ever more connected world, it is the quality and depth of relationships that matter more than the number of them", said Hewitt.

"I saw that, for most high-contract-value business brands, there is more value in speaking face-to-face with ten very senior probable clients than in tweeting to unknown millions - but that it's perfectly possible to do both."

During his time at gtnews Hewitt grew the business by setting up The European Treasurers Council, launching The Forum for Global Corporate Treasury and developing surveys, webinars and digital collateral for banks and financial technology vendors. In 2008 he led the acquisition of bobsguide.com from private owners and then remodelled the business to concentrate on lead generation.

Previously Hewitt had 20 years' experience working with B2B brands first as a writer, then digital publisher, marketer and consultant. He invented and launched www.brandrepublic.com, now Europe's largest online resource for marketing and advertising and has worked with brands as diverse as INSEAD and Marie Claire magazine to refine their thinking for the digital age and deliver everything from simple round-table events to a 100pp glossy magazine with a global circulation.

Adaugeo expects to announce more new hires in the coming weeks.
