Guida-Seibert Dairy, Co. (Guida's Milk), Connecticut's oldest dairy, is celebrating their 125th year in the dairy business. As a thank you to their loyal customers, Guida's Milk is launching a "Guida's 125 Years of Golden Oldies but Goodies" contest to celebrate their 125th Anniversary. They will award a $500 gift card grand prize and three additional $125 gift cards for the best J.E. Seibert or Guida-Seibert Dairy Co. memory, photograph, or memorabilia.

Alexander Guida Jr. and son started the business in New Britain as a sub dealer. Alexander started delivering 13 quarts of milk out of the back seat of his car in 1929. He was joined a few years later by his brother, Frank Guida, and together they continued to grow the business. In 1947 they acquired J.E. Seibert and Son, which was established in 1886. At that time, they were incorporated as Guida-Seibert Dairy Co.

Guida's Milk is one of the few successful remaining independent family-owned dairies in the country. Second generation family members currently have leadership roles in the company. Michael Guida is President and CEO, his brother Alexander is Chairman of the Board, and James Guida is Senior Vice President of Sales. Michael Guida proudly stated, "The third generation is extremely active in the family business in management roles and plan to carry it on."

When asked how Guida's Milk continues to thrive when other dairies have not, Michael Guida said, "We have excellent employees and treat them like family. Our employees are what make us successful." Mr. Guida's actions speak louder than his words. This week he arranged to have a steel beam painted for Guida's Milk employees to sign. The signed beam is now included in the construction of their new 25,000 square foot warehouse addition and will be permanently visible for the life of the building.

Guida's Milk is ranked 69th in Dairy Foods Magazine Nation's Top 100 Dairies. When asked about this accomplishment, Michael Guida said, "We're in business because we provide quality local milk. People realize local milk is fresher and better tasting. We offer CT milk for CT people. Guida's Milk customers know purchasing our milk helps support local farmers, the local job market and the local economy. Our milk is miles closer and hours fresher."
