Habitat for Humanity Hosts 11th Annual 'Building on the Dream' Salute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 16 in Bedford-Stuyvesant
Online, January 12, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The free festive program is set for Sat., Jan. 16, 2 pm - 3:30 pm at PS 54 at 195 Sandford Street (between Willoughby Street & DeKalb Avenue) in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn
The celebration includes:
• Keynote address by the Rev. Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood
• Rousing music by the Brooklyn Steppers - Blackfire Drumline
• Soul-stirring performances by PS 54 Gospel Choir and Dancers
• Inspirational speeches on Dr. King's legacy
• And much more

In addition to the program, volunteers will spend the Martin Luther King weekend building new Habitat-NYC homes nearby on Hart Street, part of 16 new Habitat homes under construction in Bedford-Stuyvesant. These volunteers are members of diverse faith groups from congregations throughout New York City. (Volunteer slots for the weekend are filled and no longer open).
