President/CEO Sharon Ellis to speak on Monday, October 6 to invite public to get involved throughout October
La Habra, CA, September 10, 2014 (Newswire.com) - In celebration of World Habitat Day, President/CEO Sharon Ellis will speak at the Habitat for Humanity of Orange County La Habra home build site to help bring attention to the need for adequate housing around the world and in Orange County on Monday, October 6th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
World Habitat Day has been declared worldwide by the United Nations General Assembly to be the first Monday of October. This day has been formally recognized as a time to acknowledge the basic need for adequate shelter in a world where 1.6 billion people continue to live in unsafe, unsuitable, and unaffordable housing. As part of honoring the day, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County is encouraging individuals to participate by joining us at our La Habra home build site located on 526 East La Habra Blvd.
"On World Habitat Day, our focus is the need for safe, decent, and affordable shelter. Habitat for Humanity of Orange County will advocate for decent housing for all people, declaring that poverty housing is socially unacceptable."

The Habitat ReStores are home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home décor, building materials to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Anyone who donates to the Habitat ReStores during the month of October will receive a 25% off “donation thank you” coupon to shop at the Habitat ReStores. All proceeds from the Habitat ReStores go to fund the building of affordable Habitat for Humanity of Orange County homes. The Habitat ReStores will also offer free kid and family friendly arts and crafts throughout the month of October in observance of World Habitat Day.
