Habitat For Humanity Religious Status Being Questioned By State

A International Religious ogranization recognized for helping the homeless and low to middle income families in their housing needs is being attacked by the State of Florida Unemployment office. After a disgrunted volunteer filed for unemployment.

The State of Florida has decided to challenge the religious 501c status of West Pasco Habitat For Humanity the above recognized organization recently. In doing so, they have frozen their accounts associated with the Unemployment Tax. The organization is known for their Christian values and home building efforts for the homeless and low to middle income families. In addition, they have acquisitioned homes through the NSP program in the last 18 months in Pasco county. In funding these homes through the NSP and rehabbing them for the low to middle income wager earners of the area, they cannot sell them due to the lien ($8200) placed on the accounts.

That means not only has the State of Florida stopped recognizing the religious status of WPHFH, they are now affecting 100's families of low income for housing needs. Titles and Deeds cannot be transferred. Homes cannot be purchased. If they start examining the status of this Christian organization, where will it stop?

The Federal Government recognizes Habitat for Humanity as a non-profit corporation with a mission status as a Religious organization internationally and nationally, but the State of Florida is attacking their spiritual status.

We recommend the lifting of sanctions immediately to allow the families to move in without be displaced.
