Habitat for Humanity Waukesha County Welcomes Karl Fechner

Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County is pleased to welcome Karl Fechner to the Board of Directors as the Chair Person of the Family Selection & Nurturing Committee.

Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County (HFH of Waukesha County) is pleased to welcome Karl Fechner to the Board of Directors as the Chair Person of the Family Selection & Nurturing Committee.

As Chair Person of the Family Selection & Nurturing Committee, Mr. Fechner is responsible for selecting HFH families that will partner with our affiliate to build their new home.

Mr. Fechner's volunteer activities make him the perfect fit for HFH and it's mission. He's been to Thailand, Nicaragua and Nepal, and he tries to lead a trip overseas every year. Mr. Fechner is planning a visit to Gliwice, Poland October 4 through October 14. He is seeking people to travel with him to help build the Robak family a new home. In just eleven days, participants will work hard and make a positive change for a Habitat partner family. Participants will work with volunteers from all over the world with a common goal in mind, building lasting friendships with people that inspire others.

When it comes to his new position with Habitat for Humanity Waukesha County, Fechner said, "My dad always said, 'One hand washes the other.' I have become my dad."

Personally, Mr. Fechner is a retired art teacher and artist and is currently painting contractor and realtor. He has one son, an archeologist, and a four-year-old daughter, who's a ballerina. Mr. Fechner is married to Pat Wunderlich, also a realtor. Ms. Wunderlich was his high school sweetheart and they married after their fortieth reunion.

Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County works in partnership with God, God's people, and partner families to enrich our community by building and renovating simple, decent, affordable housing to assist families of limited means achieve home ownership.
