Hackers Targeting Macs With New 'Komplex' Trojan
Intego Offers Tips to Help Keep Your Mac Safe
Seattle, WA, September 29, 2016 (Newswire.com) - A new Mac malware, called “Komplex,” was discovered this week. It is linked to the Sofacy Group and appears to be connected to Russian intelligence agencies.
Komplex is a highly targeted threat focused on the Russian aerospace program. However, it’s different than most other malware that has made its way into the news recently, because, while it’s currently not active, once installed it is able to download and install additional malware, execute commands, delete files, and more.
Other malware threats uncovered in recent months, such as Adwind, iWorm and Mokes, are proof of concept with no viable delivery system and not found outside of the testing environment. However, this new Komplex Trojan is targeting Macs by way of email attachments.
For further details and information to stay safe, take a look at Intego’s report about the Komplex Mac Trojan on The Mac Security Blog.
Intego’s Mac antivirus products detect all known components of Komplex as OSX/Komplex.
In addition, here are some simple everyday tips to help you keep your Mac protected:
1. Only download software from the official source.

3. Keep your operating systems and applications up-to-date.
