Happy Fix Chief Happbassador Interviewed for Today's Leading Women Podcast
Apex, NC, February 27, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Stacy Menzies, Chief Happbassador for the positive lifestyle brand Happy Fix® (www.happyfix.com) was recently featured on Today’s Leading Women, the top business podcast for women.
Host Marie Grace Berg interviewed Menzies about her company and its focus on inspiring people to celebrate what's great in their lives, as well as the challenges overcome in successfully launching North Carolina’s happiest startup last year.
“My biggest challenge really was not having a business background…not knowing a lot about just the operation side of it,” Menzies said, adding, “It’s that determination to find people and to make connections with both women and male entrepreneurs that are willing to help you learn about different aspects of business whether its production or distribution, whether it’s the accounting piece of it, and just being open to meeting people and connecting with people who can help you and accepting help.”
One of the other things we’re reluctant to do as entrepreneurs, Menzies explained in her interview, is to ask for help. “There are so many resources out there and people who want you to succeed,” she said.

In building and growing Happy Fix into a national brand, Menzies’ is tapping elements from her experiences teaching high school, lobbying, and sales while raising two impressive young men. She is a willing advocate and spokesperson for positive living, utilizing her elite research, social media, writing, and speaking skills developed while earning her B.A. in Communication from the State University of New York at Geneseo and her Master in Library Science from East Carolina University.
Menzies started Happy Fix in 2014 as a way to remind individuals that when something goes wrong, it is within their power to greet negative situations with a positive reaction. At worst, an individual can neutralize the negativity, and in most cases change the course or his or her entire day, paving the way toward achieving personal and professional goals. Researching the concept of happiness, she discovered studies at the National Institutes of Health, Harvard University, and the Mayo Clinic correlating happiness with better health, with data showing that positive mood and optimism are linked to better health and well-being.
In its first year of operation, Happy Fix has produced a growing lineup of apparel and accessories serving as a constant reminder for people that happiness is a choice that’s always within reach, in good times and bad. Comfortable t-shirts, hats, Koozies, mugs and stickers have become popular items sold on the Happy Fix website as well as at a variety of events throughout North Carolina.
In addition to selling merchandise and traveling the festival circuit, Happy Fix is spreading its mantra through a vibrant social media community including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and the Get My Happy Fix blog authored by Menzies where she writes about experiences and trending topics related to taking a negative situation and turning it around into something positive.
Menzies has also recently started the Triangle Happy Fix Meetup Group shareing resources and information on living positively in the Triangle region of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Over 40 members have joined the group since its debut in late January, with the first actual meeting currently being scheduled for this March. More information is available online at Meetup.com/Triangle-Happy-Fix.
The Meetup Group is one of the initiatives spurred on by a successful Kickstarter campaign in the Fall of 2014. Happy Fix raised $1,805 of its original $1,750 goal to share the company’s mission with a wider audience through its products, blog, social media, and events.
