Harrah's Opens Full-Scale Nonsmoking Section

ACCESSED NONSMOKING SECTION IN MISSOURI

Harrah's St. Louis Casino & Hotel has launched the largest, most easily accessed, full-scale nonsmoking section in Missouri. The first-of-its-kind nonsmoking section will feature more than 670 slot machines and table games.

"We're proud to be a state-wide leader with our new nonsmoking section," said Michael St. Pierre, general manager at Harrah's St. Louis. "Our guests now have a choice to experience the casino in the type of environment they prefer - smoking or nonsmoking."

Harrah's new nonsmoking section is nearly 12 times larger than its former nonsmoking section, increasing from 2,200 square feet to more than 26,000 square feet. The former nonsmoking section consisted of approximately 80 slot machines - similar to what is typically found in nonsmoking sections at other area casinos in Missouri. In addition, the nonsmoking section will feature the same types of games as found in the smoking section, including reels, video poker and keno in all the denominations. A total of 673 slot machines and table games will be available in the nonsmoking section, and 2,087 games are located in the smoking section. Harrah's chose the games for the nonsmoking section based on analysis of their customers and their gaming preferences.

"We continually survey our customers to learn what they would like in a gaming experience," said St. Pierre. "Our nonsmokers have told us they want a large nonsmoking section with a wide variety of all their favorite games. Not just a small section tucked in the back corner of the casino with a limited game choice."

Harrah's new nonsmoking section features a high-powered ventilation system with exhaust fans to push air particles out through the roof, significantly reducing the presence, as well as the sight and smell of smoke. The system constantly monitors and corrects air quality in the nonsmoking section, providing outside air ventilation to create a virtually smoke-free environment for guests.

"Our ventilation system significantly improves air quality in our nonsmoking section," said St. Pierre. "The system, along with our careful monitoring and correction, will create equal, if not lower carbon dioxide concentration levels than those typically found outdoors."
