Hastings and Hastings Provides Information About Defensive Driving Class
Phoenix, August 6, 2015 (Newswire.com) - As Arizona’s discount accident lawyers, Hastings & Hastings gladly shares information on defensive driving school. The Department of Motor Vehicles offers defensive driving classes to eliminate a minor traffic violation or reduce monthly insurance bills and it is highly recommended. Here is what one essentially should know.
Defensive driving can be used for the following purposes: dismiss a traffic ticket or minor violation; avoid the accumulation of driving record points; and reap an insurance discount. Besides these obvious benefits, defensive driving will teach you how to be aware of other drivers on the road, and therefore, improve your driving skills.
However, there are a few stipulations that go along with defensive driving school: you cannot take a defensive driving course to eliminate a traffic ticket that occurred longer than twenty-four months ago; you can only use defensive driving school to dismiss one ticket every two years (twenty-four months); if your accident or violation caused a serious injury or a fatality then defensive driving school is not an option. More information can be found here.
“Defensive driving school is typically useful for individuals with a decent driving record or a minor traffic violation,” said David Hastings, founder of Hastings & Hastings.
If you are taking a defensive driving class for the sole purpose of an insurance discount, then you must first contact your insurance provider to ensure that they offer insurance discounts for defensive driving courses. However, drivers with a clean record and an insurance provider that does not offer defensive driving course discounts can still take the course for educational purposes.
Moreover, if you are not an Arizona resident, you must coordinate with a local defensive driving school to complete an out of state defensive driving course. You can find such a course at the AZ Judicial Branch Website.
For those individuals already scheduled to take a defensive driving course, you should expect to sink four and a half hours into the course. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate which you can mail to your insurance company for a discount if your insurance provider is so inclined. The Arizona state traffic court will be notified by the defensive driving course provider and your minor violation will be eliminated.
