Hawthorne Caballeros Drum & Bugle Corps Join the System Blue Family
Kansas City, MO, March 21, 2017 (Newswire.com) - It is with great excitement that System Blue announces the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps will perform on Professional Brass instruments. System Blue welcomes the all age corps from New Jersey to the family and look forward to a remarkable journey together.
Founded on March 20th, 1946, the Caballeros were officially organized by a small group of recent veterans, former members of the St. George Cadets, including Jim Costello, his brother Bob, John McAuliffe, Joe Scarber, and George Hayek. A few short weeks later, the corps made its first appearance. Today, there are many elements which combine to make up the huge impact that the Caballeros have on an audience. The high caliber of performance is certainly a primary ingredient, as is that driving Latin-style music, and the incredible horn lines and percussion sections which have been amazingly consistent over the years.
We are beyond excited to have the Caballeros join the System Blue family. Their rich history and flare for drum corps bring so much to the table. We can't wait to hear them on their new System Blue Brass instruments.
David Gibbs, President
The Caballeros have a rich history of success. Setting records has always been the ultimate goal and integral part of any form of competitive sport or activity, and drum & bugle corps competition is no exception. The Caballeros began setting records as far back as the fifties. After that first win in 1951, the corps went on to capture the championship again in ’53 and ’54; and then amazingly from 1958 through 1964 – seven years in a row! A member of DCA since 1966, the Caballeros have fielded a finalist corps every year since. Of the thirty years that the Caballeros have competed for the DCA Championship, they have placed in the top three, an astounding twenty-four times – probably the single most impressive testimonial to their incredible consistency.
The Caballeros add so much color and excellence to the System Blue family. The brand looks forward to sharing a collective journey with the pageantry world.
