Online, September 28, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Today H2Ocean, Inc. is the leading manufacturer of tattoo and piercing aftercare products, but 10 years ago the company was simply a man perfecting a formula in his South Florida home.
Back then, CEO Eddie Kolos was working on distribution and marketing for suntan lotion purveyor Australian Gold. When he wasn't at work he was in the water surfing and fishing. He also enjoyed building saltwater aquariums on the side. One day something clicked. He thought, "Why isn't anyone bottling and selling the healing properties of the ocean?" His research revealed that ocean water can speed healing for many ailments - from cuts to the common cold.
He patented a formula comprised of sea salt and purified water solution that contains more than 82 trace elements and minerals essential to cell life. The first-aid spray would be the only sea salt/saline formula of its kind with Lysozyme, designed to safely and effectively cleanse wounds, abrasions and other mild skin irritations.
This patent opened the door for H2Ocean to launch a line of products, some which not only include the healing properties of the ocean, but are also inspired by the body's own bacteria-battling mechanism - lysozyme.
Today H2Ocean Tattoo and Piercing aftercare products are the preferred choice around the world in the tattoo and piercing industry, and the company's mouthwash and nasalzyme are making strides in the medical and dental markets. Currently, you can find H2Ocean products in 25 Walgreens locations from Vero to Stuart.
H2Ocean is still family-owned by Florida native Kolos and wife, Geri Kolos, who quickly expanded from their small office in Deerfield to a space in Boynton Beach. He hired friends and former sales colleagues Marty Stern as vice president and Scott Stier as executive director of operations. They launched two other companies, Vet Aid and Ocean Aid, and expanded again, relocating to a 45,000-square-foot facility in Martin County, where they now have 30 employees.
In the next two years the company plans to push into all major retailers nationwide and expand exporting to include Asia. It currently has international distribution outlets which include Germany, Australia, Canada and Sweden. Its commitment to environmental causes is on its site, www.projectbluegreen.org. It has installed solar panels on its roof, uses recycled material for shipping and manufacturers cans using a bag-in-the-can packaging system that does not use a propellant. These "green" initiatives earned H2Ocean the Green to Gold Martin County Governors Award in 2011 and the Top 50 Florida Companies to Watch Award in 2012.
In addition, The Business Development Board of Martin County named H2Ocean the Small Business of the Year earlier this month.
The company is also an active member of the community, supporting various charities and nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity, Children's Home Society, Race for the Arts, Diabetes Research Institute, the International Coastal Cleanup, Ink For a Cause and the 2012 Stuart Air Show.
H2Ocean is located at 7938 SW Jack James Drive in Stuart. Office hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 800-420-2326 or go to www.H2Ocean.com.
