Health eCareers Completes First-of-Its-Kind Healthcare Recruiting DE&I Study in Conjunction With the Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment

DE&I in Healthcare: Assessing Where It Stands and What is Important

Health eCareers, North America's leading recruitment and career network serving healthcare professionals, employers, and associations, announced today that it has completed a first-of-its-kind study exploring diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) efforts in healthcare recruiting in conjunction with the Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment (AAPPR), the nation's leading authority on physician recruitment, onboarding and retention.

"With healthcare employers investing so much time and energy into DE&I initiatives and recruiting and retaining talent, it's crucial to understand how both recruiters and healthcare providers view the efforts they are seeing," said Greg Chang, managing director at Health eCareers.

Focusing on three key areas of insights, the goal of the research is to aid the healthcare recruitment industry in better identifying and understanding opportunities for advancing DE&I initiatives. The three areas are:

  1. Understanding how recruitment professionals view their organization's DE&I efforts and what activities are currently being implemented.
  2. Discovering what is most important to healthcare professionals regarding DE&I when they are assessing potential employers.
  3. Identifying DE&I strategies organizations can implement to attract and meet healthcare professionals' interests.

"It is exciting for AAPPR and our members to be a part of ground-breaking initiatives designed to help us advance DE&I in the healthcare recruitment industry," said Carey Goryl, chief executive officer at AAPPR. "This research helps recruitment professionals understand individual and organizational gaps and where we need to strengthen DE&I efforts in the recruitment and retention of providers. These findings will help us, together, better serve the needs of healthcare organizations, providers and ultimately the patients they serve."

Initial findings from the study will be presented at AAPPR's Annual Conference on March 24, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. in Austin, Texas.
