HealthCORE Holds JCI Workshop to Help Hospitals Be Globally Competitive
Online, March 9, 2014 (Newswire.com) - In order for the Philippine hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers to truly fulfill their mandate to be globally competitive and provide the best patient care, it's time for them to upgrade their operations and facilities to be at par with international standards—there's no other way to go if they are to keep up with 21st century global healthcare practices.
Helping hospitals and clinics achieve this is a workshop organized by HealthCORE, the global health care management and medical tourism think tank that has been at the fore front of the industry since year 2004. On March 25, HealthCORE is holding the workshop for hospital directors and administrators to be given by no less than Joint Commission International (JCI), one of the most trusted and reputable international healthcare accreditation agencies in the world.
JCI is an official accreditor under the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) which is the world governing body that oversees all of its affiliated international healthcare accreditors under its International Accreditation Program. A hospital that receives JCI accreditation is considered of world-class quality and conforming to the highest, global standards of healthcare.
However, Joyce Alumno, executive director of HealthCORE is quick to point out that getting an international accreditation such as that from JCI is more than just a marketing gimmick.
"It's easy to think of seal of global quality like that from JCI as a marketing tool. However, it's much more than that. The most important aim of achieving JCI-accreditation is the improvement of healthcare for a hospital's patients. There should be no difference in the quality of healthcare received by local and international patients—since they all deserve the best healthcare that a hospital can provide.
"When international accreditation is achieved, a win-win situation is achieved or both the patients and the hospital. The hospital becomes a reputable, certified, and trusted facility that attracts patients, while the international standards it adapts improves the quality of healthcare given to local patients as well," said Alumno.
International accreditation assures patients and insurance companies that a hospital or clinic is implementing best healthcare practices that ensure safety and quality of patient care. It also creates a culture of constant improvement in healthcare operations that increases a hospital or clinic's standing as a reputable, reliable, and quality medical facility.
Beginning March 25, HealthCORE will provide training and workshops to Filipino hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers, and small healthcare organizations on how to upgrade their services, treatments, and operations to meet international standards—and achieve global recognition.
The first of many workshops and seminars will be a one-day training program on March 25 at the Edsa Shangri-la Hotel. The workshop will focus on sharing international standards and guiding principles of JCI.
Among the important topics to be discussed in the workshop are: a) standards on continuous quality improvement, good governance, facility safety, human resources, and information management system; and b) Standards on access, care of patients, management of medication, patient rights, and infection control. The workshop will be facilitated by the technical experts from JCI themselves.
Hospital owners, administrators, quality control personnel, medical professionals, nursing supervisors, and others in the healthcare industry are encouraged to attend the workshop. To know more, visit healthcore.com.ph or contact 468-9999 / 0917-8928030.
