"Nothing matters more than living well, being well, and to be well enough to spend purposeful time with our families," said Lim. "GroFast by Helios is not just a product, but a movement to empower people with self-sustaining wholesome food sources."
Lim is seeking to raise the $40,000 needed for production, marketing and establishing distribution channels. Shipping of the GroFast is planned for December 2018. Easy to use, the growing system allows individuals to take charge of their food source and supplement their diet with flavorful, natural and organic microgreens.
GroFast owners can choose whether to use traditional soil or a hydroponic grow pad for their microgreens. The planter is created from safe, food-grade certified plastic. It's available in an ivory color to blend with any décor and is compact enough to easily fit on countertops.
The three-part growing system consists of the tray in which the microgreens grow, a reservoir base to collect drained water, and a clear plastic top to prevent insect pests from invading the plants. The top is designed with a ventilation mesh to regulate air and humidity levels for optimal growing conditions.
GroFast enables anyone to grow a comprehensive range of microgreens encompassing herbs and grains to vegetables. Smaller than "baby" greens, microgreens provides home chefs and fitness enthusiasts with a variety of colors, textures and flavors. Microgreens are typically harvested when they're 3-4 inches tall and GroFast allows individuals to make new, continuous plantings throughout the year.
Microgreens can contain up to 40 percent higher concentrations of nutrients than their larger counterparts. They're rich in antioxidants, promote health, are easily digested, and contribute to a healthy immune system.
The launch of the Kickstarter campaign by Helios will fund the production, marketing and distribution of the GroFast system to place healthy microgreens within reach of anyone, right in their own home. The GroFast takes up little room on tables, countertops or windowsills, making it an ideal solution for homes and apartments of any size.
