Help From Home Launches Two New Features to Encourage People To Volunteer In Their Pyjamas

Help From Home announces its new 'Do Good' cards and 'Volunteer Challenge' features to encourage people to volunteer their time from their own home.

Help From Home www.HelpFromHome.org, one of the world's leading home based volunteering portal websites, announced today that it has introduced two new features to its website in order to promote the concept of home based volunteering as well as to enhance the ways in which people can engage in volunteering activities from the comfort of their own home.

With more people than ever before at home either bored, retired or unemployed, Help From Home provides these potential volunteers the opportunity to make a difference. "A good deed really is just a mouse click away", says Mike Bright, founder of Help From Home.

The newest feature and the most exciting one is the 'Do Good' cards initiative. "The 'Do Good' cards is our attempt to spread random acts of kindness around the world, where each card has suggestions for three simple volunteering actions printed on them. They're intended to be handed out to friends or family or just left in a random public place in an effort to encourage others to perform good deeds and make the world a better place to live in" says Bright.

"Each card has a unique tracking number on it which, when entered into the website, displays the journey it's taken around the world in order to get to you. You'll also be able to see what good deeds or messages people have left with that card. Write your own message or good deed and then pass the card on to the next person and so continue it's journey on to who knows where."

Another feature that was introduced recently was the 'Volunteer Challenge', a concept born out of the fact that some people need a goal to achieve certain things. The idea revolves around a participant performing a defined number of volunteer actions, which once completed will be rewarded with a 'Certificate of Achievement'. "It's really a challenge where, if you think you're made of the right volunteer stuff, you can prove to yourself and to the world that you''re eligible to be labelled as a 'Champion Volunteer' ", says Bright. "There are only 19 actions to be performed within the Challenge and as each one can take less than 30 minutes to achieve, it's certainly an award that's very attainable."

ABOUT HELP FROM HOME
Help From Home was set up in January 2009 with the sole purpose of encouraging and inspiring people to volunteer their time from the comfort of their own home for the benefit of worthy causes. It provides free information on easy, no commitment volunteering opportunities that will either cost nothing or very little to complete and take no more than 30 minutes to accomplish. Some can even be performed in under 10 seconds without even getting out of your favourite chair or pyjamas! For instance, you can feed a starving person for free with a simple click of the mouse, install free software to help fight cancer with your pc, as well as saving the rainforests just by using a search engine.
