HELPING HOOVES
A Flying Moose Gifts Water Buffalo to Third World Family
Heifer International Seeks to End World Hunger Through Gifting Generosity

Santa gets a new helper this year via Flying Moose Pix's annual gift giving tradition. The Moose's 2012's Heifer International gift is a Water Buffalo-the closest to a Moose available at Heifer International's Gift Catalog (Heifer dot org). Other gift types available through this US-based, visionary international organization, include: sheep, flock of ducks, llama, Basic Necessities Baskets, irrigation pumps, funds to start a women's self-help group, trees, fundraising ideas and more. These life sustaining, individual and family self-reliance, income- and nutrition-producing gifts are made to recipient families in the third world. This is agrarian but sustainable, green gifting at its best.

Moose Partner Jonathan Luskin said, "We wanted to celebrate the holiday spirit and give a gift that is clearly useful, that gives to the community, and is ecologically sound."

Heifer International's mission is to end the hunger and poverty of millions across six continents, and care for the earth via practical and sustainable gifting such as: nourishment (milk for malnourished children; other gifts can provide eggs and fresh vegetables), family income (more resourceful farming with the aid of these creatures in the fields), medicines and education for these struggling families. For many children, the opportunity for education becomes available because of the farming time efficiencies of gifted animals. These children have otherwise been locked into a lifetime of rising at dawn to work all day on tiny family farms in order to eat.

Heifer International's foundational idea of gifting heifers began in the Midwest by Dan West, Founder, in 1944. In its 65 year history, the organization has helped 65 million people. To meet its 2012 target goals, Heifer International needs help. More information and a Gift Catalog can be found at Heifer dot org.
