Hemisphere Development Donates Critical PPE to Support the Fight Against COVID-19

Boston-based Hemisphere Development Group, LLC today announced a significant donation made to Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) in response to the growing need for critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in hospitals throughout the Commonwealth. This much-needed donation will help equip healthcare providers and hospital staff with 500,000 examination gloves, 50,000 medical masks, 10,000 FDA approved KN95 masks and 1,000 coveralls to protect frontline hospital workers in the fight against COVID-19.

The Hemisphere donation was purchased directly by the company from PPE manufacturers and shipped to MEMA for allocation in Massachusetts. A number of local hospitals received notification of the donation, including Massachusetts General Hospital, Tufts Medical Center, Boston Medical Deaconess Medical Center, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center and North Shore Hospital.

“We deeply appreciate the extraordinary sacrifice and dedication of every individual, from health care providers to hospital staff, working tirelessly to help save lives during this public health crisis,” said Kai Zhao, Owner of Hemisphere Development Group. “While this unprecedented time presents challenges for us all, Hemisphere is glad to have been able to tap into supply chains to support these medical professionals with the gear they so desperately need to protect themselves while providing urgent direct patient care.”

The Commonwealth’s COVID-19 PPE Donation Program aims to connect with local partners able to contribute necessary resources in response to the state’s rapidly growing need. At this time, the primary equipment MEMA is collecting includes surgical/procedure masks, N95/N99 masks (respirators), face masks with integrated shield, PAPRs, goggles, gloves, protective suits/gowns, booties/shoe covers, headcovers and hand sanitizer.

“We are a community-focused organization committed to doing our part,” said Kai. “We encourage everyone to stay the course in following safety guidelines and to take part however they are able, whether that means checking in with loved ones, donating to local food pantries or contributing to any other COVID-19 relief organization. We are all in this together.”
