He's Heating Up Chicago

Catch Troy Darnell at Cubby Bear April 6, 2011. He will be performing his Early Preview of Type, pop r and b dance tracks and soulful ballads.

Spring is here, and so is Troy Darnell. The pop/rb singer and songwriter just released his new single, "S'wet." His rich, sensual and smooth voice waves perfectly through the funky and mellow dance track. If you didn't know, there's a hot and steamy video to go along with it. "This track is for the dance floor and the bedroom #TroyDarnellsaidso," he says.

You should recognize him as the winner of the 2010 ESPN star-spangled sing-off, where Chicago's top talent competed to sing for 25, 000 Chicago White Sox fans live. Just months later, he took the stage again and was crowned the 2010 Mahoney's Road to Fame champion, an idol-like competition where Chicago singers compete for cash and recording prizes. He sailed through ballads, powered through soul, and pounded his way through rock and roll, yes, rock and roll. This half man, half machine will tell you that he's "hardwired to deliver." He was also a 2010 contestant in the $20,000 Big Break sing-off where he captured the hearts of the judges and received a standing ovation from the audience. Many remember him as the powerful, soulful, and comical Audrey II in an off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors. But this time he started his own project. The smooth powerhouse is working on a production of his own... music and videos. Stay tuned. He spent a little time behind the scenes with NBC for a show scheduled to air in 2011. He's just doing what he loves to do, and he's doing it well.
