Highs and Lows for Creed at Pocono and Texas -- Michigan Up Next
X-Games Gold Medal Winner, Sheldon "The Showstopper" Creed, had a very busy weekend.
Brooklyn, MI, June 15, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Sheldon “The Showstopper” Creed had a very busy weekend, contesting the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards General Tire #AnythingIsPossible200 at Pocono Raceway on Friday, and then catching a flight to the Lone Star State. It was in Texas that Creed ran two Stadium Super Trucks Series races on Saturday in support of the Verizon IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway.
Creed’s first trip to Pocono started well with the 6th fastest time in practice and he lined the #12 United Rentals/AM Ortega machine up in that position for the race. The starting order was set by practice times because of a competitor’s crash during qualifying which made it impossible for all entries to run in the allotted time. Creed advanced smartly during the race, and was circulating in a strong 3rd place when a miscue during a pit stop dropped him back in the pack. He was able to climb back up in the order during the remaining laps, and eventually came home in 8th place — his second straight top-10 in ARCA Series competition this season.
"...I was able to take the win in the second race, so it was definitely worth the quick trip from Pocono."

On Saturday, at Texas Motor Speedway, there were two Stadium Super Trucks Series races in a short amount of time; one before and one after the IndyCar race. Creed suffered a mechanical problem in race one and finished 9th, but came back strong to win the second race handily. The win was his 32nd career SST victory, and his 6th win in 12 starts this season.
Sheldon Creed on Pocono, Texas and Michigan: “Pocono was kind of a disappointment, just because I thought we had a top-3 car and to end up 8th doesn’t show what a good car MDM Motorsports gave me. I had never raced at Pocono before and it’s really tricky since all three corners are so different. We ended up with a pretty good compromise setup. We got up to 3rd place in the race when we had a minor problem during a pit stop and ended up dropping back to 17th. We were able to fight our way back up to 8th, which was pretty fun.”
“The SST races were pretty rad since the track at Texas Motor Speedway has a lot of dirt, which I love, and some pretty big jumps. I broke an axle in the first race which was a bummer, but I was able to take the win in the second race, so it was definitely worth the quick trip from Pocono.”
“I’m really looking forward to going back to Michigan since MDM won that race last year, and I had a pretty good race there last year with another team. Even after we had a battery issue late in the race, we still ended up finishing 18th. I expect my #28 United Rentals/AM Ortega car to be really strong right off the truck and hopefully we can qualify well and run up front like we did last weekend.”
Creed’s next race is the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Corrigan Oil 200, this Friday at Michigan International Speedway. Creed will be back in the #28 United Rentals/AM Ortega, MDM Motorsports entry in Michigan, featuring the popular Davey Allison throwback paint scheme.
The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Corrigan Oil 200 will be broadcast live on FS1 at 6 p.m. EST.
