Hill Library's Top Executive Named Tax Payer Advocacy Panel's Chairperson for Area 6
Online, December 23, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP), a Federal Advisory Committee to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), announced that Anne Rasmussen, COO/CFO of the James J. Hill Reference Library based in St. Paul, Minnesota, had been named a Chairperson for TAP Area 6. The announcement was made during the 2010 annual conference, "Together Anything is Possible," held December 7-9 at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The TAP is a Federal Advisory Committee comprised of citizen volunteers who listen to taxpayers, identify taxpayers' issues, and make suggestions for improving IRS service and customer satisfaction. The panel is demographically and geographically diverse with at least one member from each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
"I'm very honored with this opportunity to provide additional leadership on the panel as a Chairperson for TAP Area 6," said Anne Rasmussen. "As an executive of a business reference library, I get the chance to hear directly from small business owners and entrepreneurs about their needs, and one of their primary concerns is compliance with our sophisticated tax system."
Over the past two years, along with other TAP members, Rasmussen has been working with IRS executives on priority topics, primarily those involving the Wage & Investment and Small Business/Self-Employed operating divisions.
"Our taxpayers' input is critical to helping the IRS improve its operation," emphasized Rasmussen. "Our panel's critical role as a conduit between the public and the IRS is of paramount importance and provides the IRS with invaluable insights that are crucial to sound tax administration, especially for the burgeoning entrepreneurial community."
As part of TAP, Rasmussen has also served as Vice Chair of Area 5 TAP Region and member of the Small Business/Self-Employed TAP Committee. TAP has 100 members nationwide, Minnesota has two representatives, Anne Rasmussen and Bradford Lee.
Taxpayers can find additional information about TAP or submit suggestions to Improve IRS customer service on the TAP web site at http://www.improveirs.org or by calling TAP's toll-free number, 1-888-912-1227. Individuals interested in volunteering to serve on the panel may submit an application via the TAP web site during the next open recruiting period beginning in March 2011.
