Hip Hop's Newest Entreprenuer

Hip Hop personality Sean XLG has ventured into the business world with a new company called Safety Code I.D., an alternative identification card designed to assist missing and lost children and adults with special needs.

Hip Hop's New Entrepreneur

Hip Hop heavyweights Russell Simmons, Will Smith, Ice Cube and Jay Z have attained paramount success by parlaying their musical talents into other business ventures. The moguls have established an array of products and investments to include clothing lines and film production to part ownership of NBA franchises the New Jersey Nets and Philadelphia 76'ers. Joining the ranks of hip hop entrepreneurs is adult contemporary rap artist/historian extraordinaire Sean XLG.

Sean is the founder of a new company called Safety Code I.D. Safety Code I.D. is a unique product and service that one might expect to see pitched on the ABC hit show Shark Tank. The innovative idea is based on assisting lost and missing children, adults with special needs and pet owners. Sean explains; "what we do is provide identification cards with the person's picture, a special code number and our 1-800 telephone number to contact us if they're in need of assistance".

What's unique about the I.D. cards is that it doesn't contain any personal information such as names and addresses. The special code encodes their personal identity to protect them from identity theft. The company assists each customer with their 24 hour, 7 days- a- week hot line. Once they receive a call on their hot line they call the person's emergency contacts to inform them of where their loved one is located and how to reach them.

Sean, considered by some as the greatest rapper of all time, thought of the business model after watching an episode of America's Most Wanted. "After watching AMW and the TV show Black and Missing I was reminded of my grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years before she passed away" stated Sean. "I recall several times when my grandmother went missing and the anguish our family dealt with whenever it happened", added Sean.

Located on the outskirts of Washington, DC, Sean, along with his wife Clarissa is looking to become successful with the new business venture but more than anything else they're hoping Safety Code I.D. will help save lives.

Sean XLG is the author of "Hip Hop Hooray: Celebrating 30 Years of Rap Music". Clarissa Mitchell works as a Director in the field of Human Services.
