HMS Software launches TimeControl 6
A major new upgrade to one of the world's most popular enterprise timesheet systems is now available
Online, July 12, 2010 (Newswire.com) - HMS Software has begun shipping TimeControl 6. This upgrade of TimeControl represents a significant enhancement to one of the world's most popular enterprise timesheet systems. Since its first commercial release in 1994 TimeControl has been recognized by some of the largest organizations in the world as a powerful solution to timesheet challenges in the enterprise. TimeControl is a multi-purpose timesheet, serving requirements for project timekeeping, time and billing and time and attendance from within a single system. Now TimeControl 6 brings a new architecture and new interface design to its clients.
"We couldn't be happier with what our people have delivered in TimeControl 6," said Chris Vandersluis, president of HMS Software. "This version represents numerous person-years of research and development by our HMS team."
Enhancements in TimeControl 6 include an all-new timesheet interface which eliminates the need for ActiveX controls. This new interface includes functionality for the timesheet, approvals, adjustments through TimeControl's Debit/Credit system and the new My Account area to adjust personal options. Now only Administrators may require access to ActiveX controls for TimeControl's setup, linking to external products and reporting.
The new interface supports multiple browsers and hardware platforms. Testing was effected on Internet Explorer, FireFox, Mozilla and Safari.
"We're very proud of the accomplishment that TimeControl 6 represents," said Stephen Eyton-Jones, HMS Software's Director of Technical Services. "The new features and the changes in the product are the result of input from both our developers and our clients and we believe this version will be well received."
The system has also been built to the most current technological standards fully supporting a 64bit environment for the server aspect of TimeControl. Clients who had 64bit operating systems had have been supported for some time. TimeControl 6 will also embrace MySQL along with ongoing support for Microsoft's SQL Server and Oracle databases.
A brand new TimeRequest module is included by default in TimeControl and allows users to request and get approval for vacation time in the future and to have that time automatically populated into future timesheets. The design of the TimeRequest module is representative of so much of TimeControl in its flexibility. Not only can the system be used to track vacation but many types of time can be tracked simultaneously in TimeRequest. Organizations might use the module to track travel requests, training requests, requests for onsite or offsite location and these would be approved through the powerful TimeControl approval mechanisms.
There are numerous additional enhancements to TimeControl 6 including the new TimeControl MenuStrip for navigation, the new MyAccount area which allows default selections for each navigation tab, additional rate values, cost values for the already extensive rate system, up to 9 banked time categories (up from 3), longer passwords and user names, enhanced security and intrusion logging and an updated language file that adds Spanish to the numerous languages already included in the system.
