Hoag Orthopedic Institute's Dr. James Caillouette Honored With Founder's Award from California Orthopedic Association
Online, May 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The California Orthopedic Association has honored Dr. James T. Caillouette, Surgeon in Chief at Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine, with the association's prestigious 2012 Founders Award, an honor given once a year to an individual who has exemplified the group's high standards for leadership in the field of orthopedics.
Among the numerous accomplishments credited to Dr. Caillouette by the association was his leadership in the merger of two state-of-the-art surgical centers and other entities into Hoag Orthopedic Institute, one of only a few such health care models in the nation.
"It's truly an honor to be given such an esteemed award by my peers," said Dr. Caillouette. "I share this honor with my many colleagues who have worked so hard to make the Hoag Orthopedic Institute a one-of-a-kind facility."
Dr. Caillouette was also recognized for spearheading the development of a physician-hospital joint venture arrangement, allowing for coordination of full in-patient and out-patient orthopedic services. Additionally, he helped implement several administrative and procedural programs to facilitate better care and overall experience for individuals seeking orthopedic treatment.
The Founders Award was created by the California Orthopedic Institute in 1993 to recognize members who have made outstanding contributions to furthering the quality of musculoskeletal care, and with the traditional models of care rapidly evolving amid complex changes with ACOs, ancillary services, EMR, PQRI, hospital joint ventures and bundled payments, this year's designation in particular marks quite a notable accomplishment.
Dr. Caillouette is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in adult reconstructive surgery. He is also an accomplished author, researcher and designer who currently holds nine U.S. patents for biomedical devices and methods.
