Hobbyglass.com Introduces New 6 inch Bronze Optic Mold For Glassmakers
Online, April 22, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Scott Hegan, the owner of Hobbyglass.com, has distilled years of production experience and advanced glassblowing techinque into a superb series of optic molds, available from the Hobbyglass studio and Olympic Color Rods, in Seattle, WA. The latest addition to the line is the 14 point 6 inch mold.
Like the smaller cousin of our new release, this artisan tool for glassblowers is produced with superior material, advanced proprietary vacuum casting techniques and cnc finishing. This flat bottomed mold is substantial enough to handle two gathers, and resilient enough to withstand the heat of an oven, unlike aluminum substitutes. Unlike any other readily available designs, this mold is perfect for setting up cane in an oven and then picking those canes up on a bubble.
The optic mold, a fundamental tool in glassblowing, has been made in various forms since the middle ages. Most modern molds for the studio artist are made from aluminum, which suffers from a low melting point and limited durability. Additionally, mold geometry is lacking in most contemporary designs, commonly having excessive draft resulting in akwardly formed bubbles. The new optic mold from Hobbyglass.com easily surpasses the available substitutes in these critical areas.
Hobbyglass.com, a division of Hegan Glassworks, Inc., produces tools and supplies for the hot glass artist. The studio is located in Northern California. For more information, log onto www.hobbyglass.com, call the studio at 707-462-5191, or email [email protected]
