Holiday Horror Night on Black Friday at The Hollywood Theatre

Featuring horror films, contests, giveaways and holiday gift drive to benefit non-profit children's agency

The Hollywood Theatre, in partnership with Horror Realm, Pittsburgh's modern horror convention, presents an alternative to shopping and football for horror fans on November 27, the day after Thanksgiving.

Holiday Horror Night features two Santa slasher films which have become cult classics - Silent Night Deadly Night (1984) and Christmas Evil (1980), also known as You Better Watch Out. The first movie begins at 7 PM; the second at 9:30 PM. Tickets are $6 per movie (must be purchased separately) and may be purchased at the door.

The Horror Realm team is planning some interactive events in addition to the screenings that night including an appearance by "Psycho Santa" who will be passing out goodies to the naughty and nice; a holiday horror trivia contest hosted by Tim Gross of Gross Film Reviews and Bastards of Horror; a Christmas karaoke contest; and giveaways to theater patrons.

The event will also feature a holiday gift drive to benefit clients of The Bradley Center, an accredited, regional behavioral healthcare and child welfare system that provides hope to young girls and boys. Bradley is committed to advocacy for children and dedicated to the restoration of productive relationships among children, their families and the community whenever possible. For more information, visit www.thebradleycenter.org. Patrons wishing to donate to the drive are asked to bring an unwrapped gift. Suggested gift items for any age group include:

• Arts & crafts items or kits
• Local sports team clothing, hats or gifts
• Gift cards for department stores, restaurants, entertainment venues, etc.

Horror fans are encouraged to awaken from their post-Thanksgiving tryptophan comas, get off the sofa and come out to the Hollywood Theatre for this one-night only event.

The Hollywood Theatre is located at 1449 Potomac Avenue in Dormont (15216). The theater reopened in August 2009 and is under new management by Motion Picture Heritage Corp., a nonprofit company based in Franklin, Indiana, that rehabilitates and operates classic cinemas nationwide in partnership with local communities. Opened in 1924, the historic Hollywood Theatre is the last surviving single-screen theater in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. The Hollywood is also a BYOB theater (beer & wine only). Horror Realm, Pittsburgh's modern horror convention produced by fans for fans in the zombie capital of the world, has teamed up with the Hollywood to present horror films and related events at the theater. The next convention date will be September 17-19, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh South hotel. For more information on Horror Realm, please visit www.horrorrealmcon.com.
