Hollywood's "Rendezvous" Returns Starring Cherry Boom Boom for 3-Night Run of Rock 'n Roll a Go-Go Show
Online, March 23, 2011 (Newswire.com) - On April 26, 27 and 28, the King King Hollywood is bringing back Hollywood's "Rendezvous" -- Cherry Boom Boom's one-of-a-kind Rock 'n Roll a Go-Go. This limited 3-night production is the second run of what ArtsBeatLA calls a "rockin' and sexy concoction...brilliantly conceived and perfectly executed night of rowdy entertainment."
Top L.A. choreographer and original Pussycat Doll Lindsley Allen is the creator, choreographer, director and co-producer, along with Shana Sosin as co-producer, of The Rendezvous starring the Luscious Ladies of Allen's professional dance troupe, Cherry Boom Boom.
"The first time around I just threw myself out there to see if I could do it, and it became a sold-out hit!" says Allen. "This time I'm re-vamping, making changes, and tweaking -- finding the balance of the evolution of the show and keeping the original magic."
Though there are elements of burlesque in The Rendezvous, something special sets it apart from other burlesque shows. The Rendezvous tells a story through Commedia dell'arte, a 16th-century Italian style of acting that uses exaggerated physicality and heightened emotions, yet all from a place of truth. "And the truth I want to tell," says Allen, "is that we are all connected by the universal story of love along with all the other emotions and facets along that journey, like insecurity, jealousy and temptation."
Now in the second incarnation of The Rendezvous, Allen says the story is deeper and clearer and she's adding new music and new numbers to reflect as much.
In addition to the original dancers (Allen included) and two classically trained actors as the "young lovers," The Rendezvous welcomes new dancers, including Mayte Garcia who Allen danced with on Prince's Around the World in a Day Tour. Not only is Garcia dancing in the show, but she's also performing a song Prince wrote for her.
"I'm very happy with the blend of this extremely talented cast," says Allen. "They bring a great array of beautiful colors, flavors and facets to show. They are fearless dancers with an edge, a sensuality that has no apologies along with a playful sense of comedy."
Though The Rendezvous gets plenty of compliments from men, Allen says most come from women: "They feel inspired and empowered. It's something beautiful and sensual and playful that everyone can enjoy, while celebrating women at their very best." And for those who leave the show wishing they too could strut like a Boom Boom, Allen has a new series of STRUT FIT classes starting in May.
