H'Olympics Opening Ceremony with special guest NBA Dallas Maverick Tim Thomas tonight

June14th: Ramapo College Track Field - The public is invited to help some very special athletes celebrate the opening of the 19th annual H'Olympic games

Over 220 athletes and their coaches, representing 10 social service agencies around the country will march onto the track field for the opening ceremonies of the 19th Annual H'Olympics at Ramapo College.

Special Guest speaker Tim Thomas will inspire the young athletes, who are all living in out-of-home placements or foster care, as they prepare to being three days of exciting competition. Festivities start at 6 pm.

CW 11 morning show reporter Lisa Mateo will be the emcee. It is free and open to the public.

H'Olympic teams vie for medals in track & field events (including high jump, broad jump, ball throw, and 100, 200, 400, 800 meter and relay races), softball, volleyball, basketball and swimming. There are junior and senior divisions for young men and women.

For youth who have experienced the pain of separation from their families and the harsh realities of poverty and social ills, the H'Olympics is a chance to gain a new perspective on life.
