Honda Joins Federal Hydrogen Fuel Cell Campaign
The green automaker gets greener, working with the U.S. Department of Energy to develop and expand fuel cell infrastructure in the United States.
Online, June 20, 2013 (Newswire.com) - One thing that Bommarito Honda of Hazelwood has in common with the automaker responsible for all of the new vehicles on their lot is a commitment to the environment and the future of the planet. So it should come as little surprise that there is quite a bit of talk about Honda's involvement on the new H2USA program.
Honda was already the first automaker with a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle available in the United States in the form of the FCX Clarity, which began leasing just a couple years ago, so now that the government is launching their hydrogen fuel cell campaign, the aptly-named H2USA, it only makes sense for Honda to be involved.
Now that researchers at Duke managed to practically eliminate carbon monoxide from the hydrogen process, it becomes both easier and safer to generate fuel for these futuristic new cars, and as more automakers get involved, innovation should leap forward as it did with hybrid cars just a decade ago.
As of now, the FCX Clarity is only available in select markets, but with H2USA and Honda's involvement in advancing a nationwide hydrogen infrastructure, who knows how quickly it could come to the greater St. Louis area.
Until then, Honda offers plenty of different alternative fuel options, from the Honda Fit EV to the Civic Natural Gas to hybrid models of the Accord, Civic, and more, all of which will cause a drop in fuel bills over traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. Honda has also equipped their 2013 models with some of the latest in automotive technology, like Bluetooth phone connectivity, a rearview camera system, and a built in infotainment system in the Honda i-MID.
To learn more about Honda's initiatives as a green automaker or to test drive an alternative fuel vehicle, visit the showroom at Bommarito Honda. Located at 330 Brookes Drive in Hazelwood, their dealership stocks the latest Honda models as well as a variety of used car options. With accommodating hours six days a week, it's little wonder that they are one of the leading dealers in the area.
