Host of Events for Guildhall's 20th Birthday

Online, May 24, 2011 (Newswire.com) - HOST OF EVENTS FOR GUILDHALL'S 20TH BIRTHDAY

Bosses at the Guildhall Shopping Centre in Stafford have put together a host of events to help celebrate the attraction's 20th anniversary.

Two decades after HRH Princess Anne officially opened the centre, celebrations will begin on Friday 10th June with the presentation of 30 long-service awards to people who have worked for businesses in the centre for more than 10 years - some with as much as 18 years service.

The Worshipful the Mayor of Stafford Malcolm Millichap will handle the presentations, to be held at the Druckers Coffee Shop at 8.30am, before officially opening the second event - an exhibition featuring images of working Staffordians past and present.

The exhibition, called Working Life in Stafford, has been organised by the Centre's Management Team in conjunction with Stafford Photographic Society and the Staffordshire Newsletter. It will run from Friday 10th June to Saturday 2nd July.

Alongside this there will be a weekend of family fun, starting on Saturday 11th June, including craft workshops and the appearance of several celebrity guests and a mysterious wizard! Further details on the activities and line-up will be announced at the end of May.

The centre's Marketing Manager Anne Graham said: "The centre has been a big part of life in Stafford since 1991 and we want to mark the occasion in style.

"We will be focussing on community engagement and staff contributions as both have played a big part in attracting over 30million visitors since our opening.

"For example there are members of the management team, and store managers, who have worked at the centre for more than 15 years - in one shop alone the three managers have clocked up over 45 years' service."

Since opening in 1991, the Guildhall Shopping Centre has created more than 1500 jobs and helped to launch more than 70 brands in the UK.
