House Builder Builds 53 Affordable Homes to Help in Housing Shortage

Online, July 26, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The house builder Larkfleet Homes have commenced work on one of their affordable homes scheme located in Morton in Lincolnshire.

The 20 new homes in Lincolnshire located at Morton will include two-bedroom bungalows built on a single level, two bedroom-houses and four bedroom houses for families.

The new build homes will be offered to local buyers through a shared ownership scheme and some of the properties will be available for rental at affordable rental rates.

For this particular scheme, Larkfleet Homes is working in partnership with Longhurst housing association and Havelok Homes who are offering the homes to market. It is hoped that the new development will help to address the shortage of housing in the local area. The properties will be built specifically for first-time buyers and young families who are finding it challenging to get onto the property ladder or find affordable housing in the local area.

Because of the reduction in UK Government funding for affordable housing, many families and first-time buyers cannot find good quality homes at affordable prices and are priced out of their local housing areas especially in rural areas. It is also becoming increasingly difficult to find family housing that is affordable to rent for those who cannot afford to buy a property and who want to remain in their local area close to their local community.

The house builder has also commenced work on a further 33 affordable homes located in Bourne. Twenty of these new homes will be available for affordable rental and 13 properties will be available to purchase through a shared ownership scheme for local buyers. The development in Bourne when finished will consist of 108 two and three bedroom homes. Prices start from £125,000.
