Online, October 25, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Household Essentials, LLC, based in Hazelwood, Mo., today announced the launch of Fibertech™, a bio-fiber ironing board. It is the first-ever environmentally friendly, biodegradable ironing board with a board top made from natural plant fiber waste comprised of rice, wheat, bamboo and sugar cane. Fibertech™, which is patent pending, will be available for sale through the company's national distribution partners beginning in 2011.
"One of the biggest environmental benefits for Fibertech™ is that the natural materials used to manufacture the board tops are plentiful and are not affected by the fluctuating world price increases in steel and petroleum," said James Glenn, Household Essentials CEO and president.
Glenn said he developed the idea for a green ironing board several years ago when he visited overseas manufacturing plants. He saw the results of tons of dust, wood chips and other waste that these natural materials produced when being made into household and decorating items. He wondered how the manufacturing plants disposed of the excess materials. Glenn learned from plant managers and through research that it was difficult for manufacturers to easily dispose of the natural plant waste.
He worked with an outside business to create the board-top composite and invested in specially designed machinery that could produce the board tops.
Key features about Fibertech™ include:
• Insulated, fire-retardant, and flame-proof board tops that can withstand temperatures from -40 degrees - 356 degrees Fahrenheit
• Board tops decompose quickly, between 120 days - 180 days, in a landfill. The components in the board top are harmless to the surrounding environment and cause no damage to delicate underground water sources.
• Passed many degradation and safety tests certifying its environmental and consumer friendliness
• Priced affordably when compared to current product offerings
""Fibertech™ is a revolutionary product for the non-electrical laundry products industry. Retailers are excited to sell these ironing boards because consumers now expect that their everyday household items should be environmentally friendly. Consumers benefit because they are able to invest in an affordable, well made product," added Glenn.
