How Opportunity Works merges with valuAds Media to create ed ideas, inc.

How Opportunity Works and valuAds Media have officially joined forces. The new company will operate as ed ideas, inc., and will provide a comprehensive range of services to colleges and universities through consulting, CPL, CPA & CPE solutions.

In 2006 How Opportunity Works, Inc. was founded to help colleges and universities identify opportunities and implement strategies to increase quality student enrollment and improve retention and graduation rates. Originating in Phoenix, AZ, the company relocated to San Diego, CA in 2009. In 2010, the company merged with valuAds Media, a higher education lead generation company and changed its name to ed ideas, inc. to more accurately reflect the comprehensive services and collaborative spirit of the company.

The principals of ed ideas have more than 50 years of higher education experience, directly related to enrollment growth and student retention. Their experience and understanding of the education industry and the services they provide will help your school explore and identify strategies to help you effectively increase student enrollment.

Co-founder, Heather Cornell, was a high school English teacher before becoming a corporate trainer for the Bell Systems and later AVP of Business Operations for the University of Phoenix. She has also been COO for an enrollment outsourcing company and CEO for a higher education marketing and consulting company. Her expertise includes process gap and opportunity analysis, enrollment and business development training and coaching, design, development and implementation of strategic plans, personal management coaching for effectiveness, lead generation strategies, and conversion and retention improvement strategies both for campus based and online organizations. Her passion is helping more people benefit from higher education.

Bill Brebaugh joined ed ideas after more than 20 years of successfully leading the unprecedented enrollment growth at the University of Phoenix (APOL) and Education Management Corporation (EDMC). As SVP- Enrollment at Apollo his organization was responsible for growing student population from several thousand to well over 300,000. In addition, his enrollment team pioneered the largest and most successful online campus (UOPX) in the history of higher education. At EDMC, also as SVP, Bill helped prepare the enrollment organization for a successful IPO. He has developed and led the largest enrollment teams in the sector and is sought throughout the industry for his inspiring, student-centered expertise, his motivational speaking, training and leadership development, accountability, and effective implementation of goals.

Prior to co-founding ed ideas, Jason Scott Shatzkamer served dual roles as Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of Student Services at a NY based, privately held online sales and marketing agency specializing in Enrollment Management Solutions and cp(x) lead generation for the higher education vertical. In this role, Jason helped build and manage the enrollment, admissions, and Agency of Record functions for some of the largest universities in the country, including University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and Arizona State University (ASU). Jason also managed an Education lead generation call center that serviced over 800 institutional clients and produced over 10,000 high quality education leads per month. He previously held several executive roles over 10 years at Corporate Express Northamerica, including Director of Information Technology and Director of Electronic Customer Solutions.

Daniel Haim's first expression of entrepreneurial spirit occurred in the late nineties when he founded National Arcade Distributors while attending Hofstra Law. After graduation, deciding that law practice was not for him, Dan joined a young, aggressive, New York based online advertising startup as Business Development Manager. Within 2 years they grew from 10 employees to 50, and Dan was promoted to head of sales, where he scaled the business to over $20mm in annual revenues. Instrumental in all roles "except technology" Dan became an expert in the online advertising industry, call center operations, and various cpX sales strategies.

ed ideas works with both traditional and for-profit institutions to find effective solutions to the challenges of enrollment and retention. We are passionate about what we do and always excited to learn about your goals and needs.
