How to Make a Good Professional PowerPoint Presentation for Work - Free NYC Business Networking Event

The not-for-profit Provident Loan Society of New York is devoting September's SPEAKeasy series to helping managers, small business owners and entrepreneurs improve their PowerPoint skills.

The keynote speaker and executive coach, Carol Lempert, will share tips on how to make a professional PowerPoint presentation that will keep every audience engaged.

Many of our customers are small business owners and leaders who are trying to develop their business and careers. The SPEAKeasy series is a free event that brings us all together to learn from the best about how to succeed in business and with your personal life.

Isaac Rodriguez, CE, Provident Loan Society of New York

Lempert has a Masters Degree in Communication and started her career as a professional actress. She now helps business executives pitch their ideas and inspire employees and customers. Her clients include Medidata, AvePoint, AT Kearney, DigitasLBi, TD Canada Trust, BMO, PIMCO and Prophet Consulting & Design.

“PowerPoint can be a very creative and effective tool for presentations, but unfortunately many presenters don’t know how to create a visual presentation,” said Lempert. “Most presenters make the same mistakes; they add too many slides or include too much information on one slide. From a visual perspective, that makes the presentation less effective.”

recent survey by Think Outside the Slide shows roughly 7 percent of respondents see at least one presentation every day of the work week. The same survey shows most of those respondents don’t believe the presenters devoted enough time to preparing the presentation. As a result, the PowerPoint presentation can become boring and unprofessional.

Learn from the BEST - Tips for Creating and Delivering an Effective Presentation

On Thursday, Sept. 28, Lempert will share some of her favorite secrets on how to keep any audience engaged.

Attendees will learn what is the best number of slides for a 20-minute presentation, and how TV sitcom writing will transform their presentation. She’ll also elaborate on how to end any presentation so people will leave thinking: that was great.

“We can apply many tactics from Sitcom TV writing to our presentations,” said Lempert. “Attendees will never watch TV sitcoms the same way. You’ll start rethinking how to apply some of their tactics to your PowerPoint presentation.”

The not-for-profit Provident Loan Society hosts a SPEAKeasy series every third Thursday of the month to educate the community on personal and business development. It’s an opportunity for New Yorkers to network and meet with other professionals.

“Many of our customers are small business owners and leaders who are trying to develop their business and careers,” said Isaac Rodriguez, CEO of The Provident Loan Society of New York. “The SPEAKeasy series is a free event that brings us all together to learn from the best about how to succeed in business and with your personal life.”
