Howard University to Announce Innovative Partnership With Corvias to Enhance Student Housing
Washington, DC, January 30, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Howard University President Wayne A. I. Frederick and Corvias Founder and CEO John Picerne will hold a media briefing Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Howard University to announce an innovative partnership.
Who: Howard University President, Wayne A. I. Frederick and Corvias Founder and CEO, John Picerne. Corvias is a Rhode Island-based company that is a pioneer in sustainable, long-term partnership solutions to enhance student housing.
What: Howard University and Corvias will announce an innovative new strategic partnership to renovate two of the University’s residence halls, the East and West Towers of Plaza Towers at 2251 Sherman Ave., N.W.
The partnership is a concession structure. Corvias has raised $144 million in investments for the project, which will be used to provide $71 million in construction, management, and maintenance of the Plaza Towers. Howard retains full decision-making authority over the project.
Through the partnership, students will benefit from having an up-to-date residence facility, and the University will have the opportunity to reinvest upfront cash flow in ways that best serve its community.
