Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) and Brightpoint Health Merge

Better access to higher-quality health care for the Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island

HRHCare Network Area

Today, Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) and Brightpoint Health announced the successful completion of their merger and the creation of a combined healthcare organization better positioned to meet the needs of underserved communities across the Hudson River Valley, New York City and Long Island.

Federal and state approvals of the merger have been successfully completed and as of today, the organization will serve over 225,000 patients annually with 43 Community Health Centers across urban and rural communities throughout the service area. The organization provides a broad spectrum of integrated services, including primary medical care, oral health services, behavioral health care and urgent care.

The merger commences the beginning of our journey to increase and improve health care access, quality of care and the patient's experience over a broad service area. Our core value of providing the highest quality of care in the most dignified and respectful manner is a sacred commitment we make to the patients and families that have entrusted us with their care.

Anne Kauffman Nolon, CEO

At the present time, both HRHCare and Brightpoint Health will retain their current names and brand identities, with Brightpoint Health operating as a member of Hudson River Health Care. A new brand identity for the joint organization will be announced in the coming year.

“The merger commences the beginning of our journey to increase and improve health care access, quality of care and the patient’s experience over a broad service area,” said Anne Kauffman Nolon, CEO of the surviving organization. “Our core value of providing the highest quality of care in the most dignified and respectful manner is a sacred commitment we make to the patients and families that have entrusted us with their care. Our merger will accelerate our ability to add clinical, operational and financial strength. Combining Brightpoint’s talents and history with ours allows us to advance our mission of serving those regardless of ability to pay while also scaling our population health work to address the quadruple aim of healthcare.”

“The merger continues our respective strategic efforts to build and grow our patient-centered, team-based approach to health care,” said James Sinkoff, deputy executive officer and CFO of the surviving organization.

“This merger enhances our ability to improve access to comprehensive primary care and behavioral health for vulnerable and underserved populations, including people living with HIV and AIDS and those with mental illness and substance use disorders,” said Paul Vitale, president of the surviving organization. “We share common roots and values, which we will leverage to build a better future together and place us in a stronger position to manage the entire needs of the communities we serve.”

Anne Nolon is the CEO of the combined organization. James Sinkoff is deputy executive officer and chief financial officer. Paul Vitale is president, with network-wide responsibilities, and is responsible for New York City operations. He reports to Anne Nolon.

In addition, several Brightpoint Health board members have joined the HRHCare board.
