Association for Human Rights and Tolerance of Italy recognizes humanitarians at 9th annual Human Rights Hero Awards Gala in Milan.
Milan, Italy, May 30, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The Association for Human Rights and Tolerance recognized Dr. Rosalba Ranieri and Dr. Badr Edin Fakhouri at the 9th annual Human Rights Hero Awards Gala May 26 at the Ca’ Bianca Hotel in Milan.
Dr. Ranieri is a writer and doctor of alternative medicine whose philanthropic projects include probono treatment of low-income, terminal cancer patients. She also works with other volunteer organizations to ship urgently needed medicines and equipment to countries that cannot provide adequate medical services to those in need.
Dr. Badr Edin Fakhouri is co-founder of the Home and Homme nonprofit organization that provides immigrants in Barletta, Italy, with health care and legal services and assists them to integrate socially and culturally into the community.
The gala was sponsored by the Region of Lombardy, the Church of Scientology Milan, the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Rome, and the United Planet Foundation NGO, with the endorsement of the Economic Social Council of the United Nations.
New human rights partnerships were formed between the Association for Human Rights and Tolerance and the Latin America and Caribbean Consular Group of Northern Italy. They plan to work together to ensure the rights of members of the Latin American community of Italy by making human rights educational materials and programs available through United for Human Rights and its sister organization for young people, Youth for Human Rights International.
The Association’s Human Rights Hero Awards are presented to those whose work represents a commitment to the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These men and women demonstrate unwavering dedication to providing opportunities and hope for a better future to their fellow man.
Scientologists on six continents engage in collaborative efforts with government agencies and nongovernmental organizations to bring about broad-scale awareness and implementation of the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the world’s premier human rights document.
