Hypertherm Plasma Work Centers Added To Costimator Estimating Software For Fabricating

Online, November 19, 2013 (Newswire.com) - MTI Systems, Inc. (www.mtisystems.com) announced today the addition of the "Hypertherm HyPerformance Plasma cutting system" to the workcenter library in Costimator. This adds a laser-like cutting performance to a wealth of manufacturing knowledge already included in the cost estimating software system. Specifically it helps manufacturers estimate parts they would be fabricating, compare options, and provide quotes for processes and parts that require fabrication.

Work Centers are primarily used by manufacturers who do machining or fabricating and process materials to make them into parts. Users can now choose from over 3,500 work-centers included in the software library. The inclusion of these workcenters makes it easier for manufacturers to process quotes and benchmark their work up against their competitors. The result is faster quoting turnaround times on estimates and more accurate quotes.

In recent years, HyPerformance CNC Plasma has emerged as one of the most preferred methods for cutting sheet and plate metal in high precision environments. Right off the bat, Costimator provides information for fabricating to identify reduced maintenance and operational costs. While a new plasma table may cost around $50,000.00, used lasers can cost 2-3 times that price.

CNC Plasma works differently than normal welding torches in that it combines air and electricity to create their plasma. In the past, plasma cutters for fabricating was somewhat effective, but sometimes prone to sloppiness. With HyDefinition, plasma flames are used instead, making it easy to cut through the metal without adversely affecting its surroundings.
