IDC MarketScape Positions Smile CDR as a Leader in Customer-360 Data Platforms for Payers Vendor Assessment

Smile CDR

Smile CDR, an enterprise-class, FHIR-based data platform that solves persistent healthcare data collection and sharing challenges, today announced it has been recognized as a leader in the IDC MarketScape: U.S. Customer-360 Data Platforms for Payers 2021 Vendor Assessment (Doc # US46997020, December 2020).

According to the IDC MarketScape report, Smile CDR was recognized for strengths in several areas including privacy/consent through its relationship repository, and identity management provided by an enterprise master person index. The IDC MarketScape also highlighted performance abilities as a solution designed in horizontal clusters, the company's architecture flexibility enabled through partnerships with terminology vendors to provide data quality, enrichment and workflow support. Also noted was Smile CDR's growth potential, as it has the ability to store large binary file types and support FHIR Genomics resources as it emerges, works with various partners to convert unstructured data into structured formats stored as FHIR resources.

"Consider Smile CDR when a payer wants to work all-in with FHIR. A candidate payer is one that wants to work in lockstep with an international FHIR standards-based leader who has one product and is dedicated to that product with a view toward open architecture, said Jeff Rivkin, Research Director, IDC. "Smile supports the complete FHIR ecosystem from claims to labs to full longitudinal patient health records with a complete implementation of the FHIR specification, meaning every FHIR resource is supported. As Smile is also the maintainer of the community HAPI FHIR server, new and updated FHIR resources will become available to a payer's Smile server as soon as they're added to the standard — ensuring payers are able to take advantage of the latest innovations in FHIR while maintaining coverage of previous versions."

"We see FHIR as the key to enabling what we call the internet of health and, through our open source HAPI and our enterprise Smile CDR products, we have taken the international lead on maintaining and contributing to this important and transformative standard," said Duncan Weatherston, CEO, Smile CDR. "Our IDC MarketScape positioning is a strong validation of our mission to help payers move data and ensure that it is securely available whenever it's needed to whoever needs it."
