Ideas United Proudly Announces the Addition of Two Coveted Business Leaders to Its Board of Directors
Julie Ann Crommett, founder and CEO of Collective Moxie, and Jinal Shah, CMO of Zip, join Ideas United as board members
ATLANTA, December 9, 2021 (Newswire.com) - Ideas United announced today the addition of two coveted business leaders — Julie Ann Crommett, Founder and CEO of Collective Moxie, and Jinal Shah, CMO of Zip — to its Board of Directors.
Crommett's and Shah's unique business backgrounds will bring in fresh perspectives that will guide Ideas United's vision to create for a better future.
"We are truly honored and thrilled to have Julie Ann and Jinal join our Board of Directors," said David Roemer, CEO of Ideas United. "We're grateful to benefit from their experience, expertise, and leadership as we navigate our most exciting growth period yet at Ideas United."
Julie Ann Crommett joins the Ideas United Board of Directors after having worked in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion space for over a decade, where she inspired disruptive, systemic change across media and tech.
Crommett was most recently Vice President of Multicultural Audience Engagement at The Walt Disney Studios, where she spearheaded efforts to diversify talent in front of and behind the camera, connect creative projects more closely to the communities they touch, and build a more inclusive culture within the Studios. Her team contributed to projects such as SOUL, COCO, BLACK PANTHER, and ALADDIN. It also launched the Disney Launchpad: Shorts Incubator, an industry-leading program guaranteeing up to six directors from underrepresented backgrounds the opportunity to produce a short film for Disney+. Crommett was also instrumental in Disney's library review process, which led to a revised content advisory and more proactive resources for families to discuss negative media stereotypes.
Prior to Disney, she served as Google's entertainment industry educator-in-chief, helping the company to shift and diversify on-screen perceptions of computer science through storytelling. Before that role, she worked at NBC Universal, where she managed behind-the-camera diversity programs, such as Writers on the Verge and the Directing Fellowship.
Crommett has been recognized by The Hollywood Reporter's 35 under 35, the IMAGEN Foundation's Influential Latinos in Entertainment list, and as an ADCOLOR Innovator. She has also been featured in Variety, Deadline, and more.
"I am so honored to now join the Board," Crommett said. "And my hope is to help guide and advise the team at Ideas United on this next chapter as they continue to grow and scale while also becoming more diverse, inclusive and globally minded. They have always been dedicated to fostering new talent and creating opportunities for storytellers from across the globe."
Jinal Shah joins the Ideas United Board of Directors as a digital-first brand leader passionate about growing purpose-driven brands that build new consumer behaviors.
Shah has developed a niche connecting brand and e-commerce and has excelled at driving both creative and commercial capital. Throughout her career, she has successfully led teams through periods of intense growth, transformation, and turnaround.
Shah is currently the U.S. chief marketing officer at Zip, a global technology platform. Prior to Zip, she held senior leadership roles at Feather, S'well, Newell and J. Walter Thompson. In her agency career, she has been instrumental in leading the digital transformation of JWT and has helped global brands such as Estee Lauder, Rolex, Unilever, Macy's, De Beers, and American Express.
In 2021, Shah was recognized on the AdAge 40 under 40 list. Her work has won awards at eTail West, Webby, ADC, Clip, Cannes Lions, and DEMO. She was also named one of Top Ten Digital Strategists to Watch by The Guardian, served on the jury of TED Ads Worth Spreading, and was named one of top media innovators by iMedia. She has been a guest lecturer at Harvard, Yale, NYU, and Columbia, and has spoken at AMA, Wharton Marketing Conference, Social Media Week, Ladies Get Paid, and other events. She is an advisor to Pharrell's Black Ambition incubation program.
"Ideas United has been crafting incredible stories for brands and fostering emerging storytellers for over a decade," Shah said. "They are true craftspeople: curious, humble, and deeply passionate. It is my privilege to join the board of Ideas United at this phase of their journey as they scale their capabilities and venture into new areas of growth."
