If Pokemon Go and Lonely Planet Had a Child, It Would Be SmartGuide - Augmented Reality Audioguide

TTG travel startup of the year founded by Harvard and McKinsey alums set on disrupting traditional guidebooks and tour guides.

SmartGuide Augmented Reality Guide

Travel-tech startup SmartGuide raises Seed B round from a syndicate of investors led by Grouport VC to disrupt traditional guides and revolutionize how people experience new places during their travels.

SmartGuide turns every phone into a private guide. The platform allows attractions and professional guides to easily digitize guide content. SmartGuide publishes content as an interactive app that uses geolocation, audio and Augmented Reality to guide travelers like a live guide. SmartGuide currently covers 40 destinations from the official guide of Prague to the most popular guide app in Cambodia.

The award-winning company founded by Harvard alumni, McKinsey consultants, serial entrepreneurs and travel pros has grown eight-fold in the last year and plans are similar for this year. “We will use the investment to expand into 300 destinations, enhance the technology and to build up strategic partnerships with attractions, tour operators, transportation companies and other partners whose customers benefit from a modern guide,” said Jan Dolezal, CEO and co-founder, who himself traveled all around the world.
