IIMSAM Official Expressed His Camaraderie for Earthquake Affected People of Chile

IIMSAM Middle East Director & Goodwill Ambassador Dr. Naseer Homoud appeals world community to support Chile to cope with the situation there after devastating earthquake.

In his appeal to world community for support rehabilitation work in Chile after earthquake disaster, Dr. Naseer Homoud Goodwill Ambassador and Director of Middle East office for the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), the Permanent Observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council urged all governments and organizations to extend their helping hands to Chile rehabilitation and relief work being undertaken by numerous organization and with support of several governments. Dr. Homoud while addressing the media said "the immediate response is to provide food, water, first aid kits, emergency packets, blankets, candles and other urgently required supplies to the affected people for which they are in dire need".

"Our hearts go out to those impacted by the earthquake. We hope by supporting relief and rehabilitations work there, we will be able to support the people who are adversely affected, across the areas in Chile most impacted by this tragic event." Dr. Homoud said while reaffirming his commitment to relief and rehabilitations work in Chile. He stressed that even Chile is comparatively prepared to cope with situation even the effects of the global food crisis and particularly the present disaster have left the country dangerously vulnerable. In his appeal Dr. Homoud said "Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of Chile and all those working tirelessly for assistance to the thousands of victims, and supporting relief and rehabilitation work there" He further added "I wish to convey my sympathy, thoughts and prayers to the people of Chile who have been affected by this devastating earthquake I request all to continue to keep all those affected in their prayers".

"Any disaster increases the vulnerability of children. And we know from experience that an earthquake of this enormity - with widespread destruction of homes, schools, infrastructure and peace of mind - will put thousands of children at risk," said Dr. Homoud. He further added "It is critical to reach affected children and families now in the early hours and meet their immediate survival needs. At the same time, we must also ensure that children, because they are at greater risk, are protected and nurtured as their country begins the difficult relief and recovery process."

"Let us continue to uphold in our prayers and thoughts the people of Chile, as they try to come to terms with the extent of this large-scale disaster. While many have to deal with the painful loss of loved ones, serious injuries and utter destruction of homes, others are still waiting to hear news from family members and friends caught up in the earthquake" Dr. Homoud said.
