I'm Catholic Cool's E. Walter Smith To Host Jazz On The Lawn

Online, September 9, 2011 (Newswire.com) - As the summer breeze slowly ushers in Autumn's leaves, the sound of smooth jazz will fill the air at Lithonia, Georgia's Christ Our Hope Catholic Church.

The Men's Club at Christ Our Hope are once again presenting some of Atlanta's best talent at their 3rd annual Jazz on the Lawn concert.

The event will feature The PR Experience: an Atlanta-based group that hit the music scene in 2009 with an innovative mixture of melodies and harmonies that reflects a smooth style of Jazz, Funk, and Neo Soul. The sultry sound of trumpeter, Nelson Render, who has performed and recorded with various nationally recognized artists such as Dee Lucas, Otis Brown III, Curtis Whitehead, Reggie Hines, James Seda, Gary Harris, Daniel Solaaman, Kimberly Holloway, Nick Hagelin, Kemba Cofield, Teddy White, Wycliffe Gordan, A London Arrington, Heston, Trendle Thomas, Rhonda Thomas, Madoca, William Green, and Lelah James will blend harmoniously with seasoned trombonist Dr. Marvin Pryor.

Dr. Marvin Pryor's resume includes performances, tours and recording experiences with artist such as: Cameo, The Ohio Players, Chi-Lites, The Dells, Little Anthony, Ray Charles, Cash Flow, Ethiopian Dread, Heston, Madoca, Lelah James and many others. During Pryor's tenure as a musician, he has performed in Europe, Canada and over twenty states across the United States. Pryor received his training at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Berklee, he studied extensively with jazz trombonist Phil Wilson and currently serves as the Principal at Carver School of the Arts in the Atlanta Public School System.

Headling "Jazz on the Lawn" will be Saxophonist Derwin Daniels. Daniels recently released his solo debut CD "Full Circle," which includes the satellite radio and Latin-infused hit Sambaya. His other recordings include the single Going Home and a Christmas CD called "Holiday House." Most recently, Daniels collaborated in part with Atlanta hip hop producer Zaytoven and Derrick Pryce to create the CD "journey." Daniels has traveled to Ghana, Africa and Brazil to perform. He has also played the same venues and opened for jazz greats Bobby Lyle, Jonathan Butler, Alex Bugnon, Jazz Crusaders, Kevin Toney and Kim Waters. Derwin currently plays with the legendary icons "Sugarfoot & the Ohio Players." Derwin can be seen on the silver screen in Fall 2011 in the SAG Feature Film 'Truth Seekers' in an acting and music role.

The event will be hosted by I'm Catholic Cool's co- founder, international singer/songwriter, E. Walter Smith. "I'm excited about being a part of this event. Derwin plays sax I'm Catholic Cool and makes cameo appearance with the Christ Our Hope Choir when he's not on the road.
