Online, November 16, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Institute of Management Technology Centre for Distance Learning alumnus Navneeta Bose leads a hectic life as executive assistant to a corporate vice-president - but she thrives on it.
Currently serving as executive assistant to the Vice-President of Email Servicing for American Express India Pvt. Ltd., her workday begins at 9 a.m. and may not end until 10 at night.
"However," she said, "AMEX as an organisation gives you the right opportunity to strike a balance between work and your personal life. It's been six years with the company and each day it's a new learning experience for me at work; I keep looking forward to going in every day and taking up the challenge."
Navneeta began working after receiving her B. Sc. (Hons) in Statistics from Delhi University, and while she never considered quitting work, she still wanted to pursue a higher education. When she learned she could get a PGDM in Finance from IMT Centre for Distance Learning, she jumped at the chance.
Looking back at her studies with IMT-CDL, she feels that the centre's strong point is its faculty and she vividly remembers her first call to her programme manager, Prof. Tushar Marwaha. "I was really impressed by his humble behaviour and his support and quick responsiveness in any situation or issue."
She advises the future IMT-CDL students to take their course very seriously. "Some students think that since this is a distance learning course the importance of studies or seriousness toward the course is minimal," she said. However, she carried on to say that she knows from experience, "the amount of effort that needs to be put into it is equal to that of any other course."
Career-wise, Navneeta has risen from her start in operations to executive administration & managerial work force and recalls one of her major boosts along that path happened in 2008(she was then part of the Global Disputes Network ), when she achieved a $6000 USD savings per month, after successfully implementing the change in policy & procedure of a particular case type while working on a project for AMEX.
That brought her to the attention of senior management and from there on she was put in charge of a new team for a period of six months as a Subject Matter Expert. Her new job profile entailed "the entire training of the batch, monitoring of their transactions and coaching & feedback on quality and compliance. It also meant ensuring that the team met its business goals."
She climbed the ladder further after she was promoted as Executive Manager/Assistant to VP (Email Servicing at AMEX). While she found the first seven months in her role as executive assistant really challenging, she is settled in the job now, noting "my leader has been really supportive in moving me up the learning curve."
Navneeta likes the fact that her job has "flexibility in shifts" and is "non-monotonous in nature, dynamic in approach."
"Over the next five years", she says, "I see myself growing both professionally & in personal life and IMT-CDL will definitely share the applause in achieving that milestone."
