When Mr. Pradeep Agrawal, an IDSE (Indian Defence Service of Engineers) Officer of the 1987 batch, decided to pursue his Post-Graduation in business management, IMT-CDL was the one and only choice.

"Being a Civil Engineer with a Post-Graduation in Construction Technology and Management, I always wanted to learn and gain experience in the business administration side of infrastructure projects. I wanted to empower myself to manage the business, clients, and to understand the various commercial nuances of my field. I chose IMT-CDL because of its strong brand image and a very strong alumni base, many of whom have done exceedingly well in my field. Besides this, the course content and the world-class faculty at IMT-CDL also proved to be deciding factors. The course delivery through online classes was the single most attractive feature for a busy executive like me. This enabled me to attend the highly interactive online classes despite my busy schedule. The help given by the faculty members of IMT-CDL apart from the online classes - is worth mentioning."

Currently working as Director (Infrastructure) in an autonomous body under Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, Mr. Agrawal's role in the Ministry of Defence is the management of infrastructure projects for the defence forces and organisations under the Ministry of Defence across the country. Earlier, he was also associated with policy formulation and implementation for Military Engineer Services, with regard to project management and monitoring. One of the highlights of his present appointment is creating world class infrastructure facilities for homologation and development in the Auto Sector in the country, to bring the Auto Industry at par with European and American standards.

"In my 25-year long career, I have served at numerous positions in the lower, middle, and now senior management for projects, maintenance of defence townships, infrastructure - including structural design - technical examination, third-party inspection of projects and facilities etc. The IMT-CDL programme helped me to rationalise my thought process on managing projects, understand business dynamics, HR issues, legal issues, and assess infrastructure projects from a commercial point of view."

Mr. Pradeep Agrawal believes that his current job has exposed him to the 'no-nonsense'work culture of the Armed Forces. He enjoys working in a tough environment with strict time-bound targets for project delivery as well as highly knowledgeable interaction with the elite forces responsible for the defence of the country. With such responsibilities on his shoulders, he is amazed at the kind of flexibility in the IMT-CDL method of delivery, which made it possible for him to do his PGDBM.

"There were certain topics and subjects - like economics and commerce - which I learnt for the first time at IMT-CDL.These were really tough and challenging for me. However, the online classes and interaction with the faculty of IMT-CDL ensured that I scored well in these subjects as well."

Mr.Agrawal points out that both his knowledge and career have been on the upward swing after IMT-CDL.
