Business 2.0 is a proactive effort by businesses to stay ahead of the game by developing and redesigning business models taking into account the various factors towards becoming sustainable and successful. While commenting on the theme, Prof. Sadanand Prusty of IMT Ghaziabad stated: "Earlier competition was less and options were few. Ever since the 1990s, with the opening up of the economy, availability of similar products from different brands is common. The focus for corporates, a few years ago was on the simple goal of profit maximization which has now broadened to include sustainability and ethics as well. Earlier the companies followed a hire and fire policy which has now given way to grooming, developing and retaining employees." The need of sustainability in business is now universally accepted.
Prof. Batra notes that "Accelerated Mobility, ubiquitous nature of IT and virtual merger of personal time with work time have led to a major transition in value creation mechanisms in the enterprises. These trends are very much relevant to the B-school curricula. IMT Ghaziabad is now in the process of updating their course according to the changing requirements of companies that primarily focus on values and ethics to achieve their objectives."
Brijesh Mishra, a student of the PGDM Executive batch firmly believes on the concept of Sustainable Development. He states: "I am confident that businesses and societies can find ways to move towards managing the triple bottom line - social wellbeing (People), environmental protection (Planet), and economic development (Profit) - simultaneously. Many executives have demonstrated that pursuing sustainable development practices makes good business profit in the long run."
